Garam masala tilapia over honey sriracha broccoli

  • Ziploc bag
  • Medium pot
  • Steamer basket
  • Fry pan

Fish Marinade
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 tsp paprika
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 C water
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
Broccoli Sauce
  • 1 to 2 T sriracha to taste
  • 2 T honey
Other Ingredients
  • 2 small tilapia filets
  • 1 small crown broccoli, stems removed

Add the fish marinade ingredients to a ziplock bag, seal, shake to combine. Add fish filets, push out air and seal bag. Marinate fish for 20 minutes.

Combine the broccoli sauce ingredients in the small saucepan. Heat over lowest heat until honey is smooth and melted. Turn off heat until food is within a minute of being done, then reheat the sauce. Note that 2 tablespoons of sriracha makes a pretty spicy sauce, maybe too spicy for American tastes. Reduce sriracha if necessary to taste.

Boil pot of water with steamer basket.

Heat fry pan over medium heat. Add 1 T butter being careful not to let it blacken. Add fish and cook 3 to 4 minutes without disturbing. Add the remaining butter, flip filets and immediately add your broccoli to the steamer basket and cover the pot. Cook the fish and broccoli for 3 minutes. Remove broccoli to sauce pot and stir to coat with sauce. Pour sauce and broccoli into your dish and top with fish.
